To the north of the state of Quintana Roo, is Chiquilá, the starting point for Isla Holbox and which is also a fishing port. In this place there are no hotels, as it is only the port of departure, however, some tours for the Whale Shark depart from here from June to August.

There is a gas station, some grocery stores and inexpensive inns to eat.

It is not necessary to wait for the car ferry to cross to the island, because in Chiquilá they offer several parking lots where they will take care of your car for a minimum daily amount, these establishments have 24-hour surveillance for your peace of mind.

If you come from Cancun, you must take the free road that goes to Mérida, when you reach the municipality of Leona Vicario, passing this town you must continue to Valladolid again where you will turn right, there you will find the deviation towards Chiquilá.

There is also private transportation, in air-conditioned vans, from the Cancun airport, which you can hire through our website, but there are also buses that leave from the terminal of the City of Merida, others from Cancun and some others from Tizimín; the hours are not very frequent but it is well worth the wait.
